Geographical Area of Serdivan

Serdivan is situated to the west of  Sakarya city center, in the Eastern Marmara Region. Its climate and geographical structure and the quality standards in zoning regulations are factors which result in Serdivan being the preferred area of development. Serdivan lies on the hills around the Adapazarı plain, some of which are not suitable for construction as the gradient can reach 35-40%. In addition, the soil structure of the hills is affected by some factors such as climate and wind in the region.

After becoming a state, the acreage and number of  neighbourhoods in Serdivan increased. Its acreage is 11.331 hectare and all of these areas are the responsibility of the city hall. But as it’s known that because of different status of villages placed in forests can not be converted to neighbourhoods and some of  the warrants of the municipalty can not be issued in such areas.

Including the new neighbourhoods, Serdivan has 14 neighbourhoods and 10 villages in forests. The city hall has carried out its duties in villages by zoning projects. The service can be widened upon the request of the city council. The neighbourhoods in Serdivan city hall are Arabacıalanı, Aralık, Bahçelievler, Beşköprü, Esentepe, Hamitabat, İstiklal, Kazımpaşa, Kemalpaşa, Köprübaşı, Otuzikievler, Reşadiye, Vatan and Yazlık.

The 2.000 hectare part of  Serdivan, which is of 11.331 breadth, consists of green areas and forests. While the rate of forests to the acreage of Sakarya is nearly 44%, this amount in Serdivan is quite low. The rate of forests and green areas in Serdivan is 16.8%. The common property of the forests is of the wood and swamp kind and the nominal kind of tree oak.

Much of the land in high altitude areas within the Serdivan boundaries is densely forested. At lower levels orchards are frequent. In short ,the region has a large area of natural vegetation.
